{"id":497,"date":"2020-10-22T10:50:50","date_gmt":"2020-10-22T10:50:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/standrewsconiston.org.uk\/prayerandpraise\/?p=497"},"modified":"2020-10-22T10:50:50","modified_gmt":"2020-10-22T10:50:50","slug":"be-thou-my-vision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/standrewsconiston.org.uk\/prayerandpraise\/be-thou-my-vision\/","title":{"rendered":"Be thou my vision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #800080;\"><em>St Andrew\u2019s Church, Prayer &amp; Praise, Wednesday, 21 October 2020<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Call to Worship<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>All who are thirsty,\r\n\r\n<strong>Come drink from the waters of life!\u00a0\r\n <\/strong>All who are weary,\r\n\r\n<strong>Come bathe, be refreshed in God\u2019s river!\u00a0\r\n <\/strong>All who long for peace,\r\n\r\n<strong>Come rest in the clear, silent pools of God\u2019s love!\u00a0<\/strong><\/pre>\n<p><strong>\u00a0H<\/strong><strong>ymn 449 Love divine<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Isaiah 55:1-5a; 6-11<\/strong><\/p>\n<pre>Come, everyone who thirsts,\r\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0come to the waters;\r\n and you that have no money,\r\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0come, buy and eat!\r\n Come, buy wine and milk\r\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0without money and without price. \r\n Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread,\r\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and your labour for that which does not satisfy?\r\n Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good,\r\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and delight yourselves in rich\u00a0food. \r\n Incline your ear, and come to me;\r\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0listen, so that you may live.\r\n \r\n Seek the Lord while he may be\u00a0found,\r\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0call upon him while he is near; \r\n let the wicked forsake their way,\r\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and the unrighteous their thoughts;\r\n let them return to the Lord, that he may have mercy on them,\r\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. \r\n For my thoughts are not your thoughts,\r\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0nor are your ways my ways, says the Lord. \r\n For as the heavens are higher than the earth,\r\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0so are my ways higher than your\u00a0ways\r\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and my thoughts than your thoughts.\r\n\r\nFor as the rain and the snow come down from heaven,\r\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and do not return there until they have watered the earth,\r\n making it bring forth and sprout,\r\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, \r\n so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;\r\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0it shall not return to me empty,\r\n but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,\r\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and succeed in the thing for which I sent it.<\/pre>\n<p><strong><em>Meditation from Jesus Calling (with music, All who are Thirsty, 1025):<\/em><\/strong><em>\u00a0 My Thoughts are not your thoughts; neither are your ways My ways.\u00a0 As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My Ways and thoughts higher than yours.\u00a0 <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Summing up prayer<\/em><\/strong><em>:\u00a0 Lord we marvel at the wonder of being able to commune with you any time, any place.\u00a0 Let us never take this amazing privilege for granted.<\/em><strong> \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Colossians 4:2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><sup>2\u00a0<\/sup>Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Meditation from Jesus Calling:<\/em><\/strong><em>\u00a0 Though I am vastly higher and greater than you, I am training you to think My thoughts.\u00a0 As you spend time in My Presence, My thoughts gradually form in your mind.\u00a0 These communications strengthen you and prepare you for whatever is before you on your journey. Take time to listen to My voice.\u00a0 Through your sacrifice of precious time, I bless you far more than you dare to ask.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Silence<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hymn Sheet, Bless the Lord my Soul<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>John 4:10-13<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>10\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>Jesus answered her,\u00a0\u201cIf you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong><sup>11\u00a0<\/sup><\/strong>\u201cSir,\u201d the woman said, \u201cyou have nothing to draw with and the well is deep.
