{"id":346,"date":"2018-02-16T18:34:49","date_gmt":"2018-02-16T18:34:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/standrewsconiston.org.uk\/prayerandpraise\/?p=346"},"modified":"2018-02-16T18:38:06","modified_gmt":"2018-02-16T18:38:06","slug":"a-prayer-for-teachers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/standrewsconiston.org.uk\/prayerandpraise\/a-prayer-for-teachers\/","title":{"rendered":"A Prayer for Teachers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Lord, we pray for all those Christian teachers who are struggling with their work; who feel called to serve You in education and want to honour this calling but who now cry out for Your help.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Lord, we lift to You those teachers who struggle daily with pupil indiscipline; who feel close to breaking point; who cannot cope any longer with the verbal threats and physical abuse they face.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333399;\">We pray for all those teachers who dread the prospect of facing this class on a Monday morning or that pupil on a Friday afternoon; for whom each day is a waking nightmare \u2026 followed, each night, by worry and insomnia in a seemingly unending cycle of fear \u2026 and stress \u2026 and guilt.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Lord, we lift to You those teachers who are burdened by bureaucracy and worn down by excessive workload; who admit to feeling browbeaten and demotivated; who are unable to keep up with ever increasing mountains of paperwork.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333399;\">We pray for all those teachers for whom there never seem to be enough hours in the day; who spend most evenings marking and record keeping and much of each weekend planning and preparing for the week ahead; for whom mental exhaustion and spiritual dryness is a term-time way of life, and physical and mental breakdown is an ever present threat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Lord, we pray that ALL teachers might be given the support they require:<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; padding-left: 30px;\">from colleagues at school;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; padding-left: 30px;\">from governors and parents;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; padding-left: 30px;\">from union and local authority officials;<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0cm 0cm 0.0001pt; padding-left: 30px;\">from their church;<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">from You, Almighty and Everlasting God.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #333399;\">Lord, by Your Holy Spirit, we ask You to empower and energise each and every Christian teacher in their calling to serve You.\u00a0 Strengthen and protect them; bless and enable them so they might be \u201csalt\u201d and \u201clight\u201d to the communities they serve.<\/span><br \/>\nAmen<\/p>\n<p><em>prayer submitted by Vik Sekasi, Furness Network Youth Minister<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lord, we pray for all those Christian teachers who are struggling with their work; who feel called to serve You in education and want to honour this calling but who now cry out for Your help.
